Overview
Most businesses run on good software that doesn't talk to itself. We connect the systems you already use — so data moves on its own and your team stops re-entering it.
Connected systems, less double‑handling.
Start a ConversationAn API integration is a piece of software that moves data between your systems automatically. An order placed in your online store lands in your accounting software as an invoice. A new client in your CRM appears in your project tool. Nobody types anything twice.
The businesses that come to us are usually paying for the gap without seeing it — hours a week re-keying data between systems, errors from mistyped figures, and reports that are out of date the moment they're exported.
Northbase has been building software for Australian businesses since 2000, and integration work runs through almost everything we build. We scope it, build it, and monitor it — the same team, before and after launch.
What we connect
API integration & development services.
If a platform has an API, we can connect to it. These are the integrations we're asked for most.
Accounting & invoicing
Xero, MYOB, and QuickBooks integrations — orders become invoices, payments reconcile automatically, and your accounts stay current without anyone re-keying figures at the end of the month.
CRM & sales platforms
HubSpot, Pipedrive, and other CRM integrations — leads, contacts, and deal data flowing between your CRM, your website, and your operations systems so sales and delivery see the same picture.
E-commerce & payments
Shopify, WooCommerce, and Stripe integrations — syncing orders, stock levels, and payment data with your inventory, fulfilment, and accounting systems in real time.
Custom API development
When a system of yours needs to expose data to partners, suppliers, or other software, we design and build the API itself — documented, secured, and versioned properly.
Integrations often start as part of a bigger build. If the process itself needs a home, see custom software development — and if the goal is removing manual steps, see workflow automation.
The process
How we build integrations.
Integrations fail when they're treated as an afterthought. We treat the data flow as the product — mapped first, built carefully, and monitored after launch.
01
Map the data flow
We work out what data lives where, which system owns the truth for each record, and where the double-handling is happening today. This map becomes the scope.
02
Design & scope
We design how the systems will talk — what syncs, in which direction, how often, and what happens when something conflicts. You get a fixed quote before anything is built.
03
Build & test
We build the integration with proper error handling and test it against real data before it goes anywhere near production. Edge cases get found here, not in your accounts.
04
Monitor & support
Integrations run quietly in the background, so we monitor them for you. If an API changes or a sync fails, we know before you do — and we fix it as part of ongoing support.
Tired of re-entering the same data?
Let's map out what should be talking to what.
Zapier or custom integration?
Off-the-shelf connectors like Zapier and Make are genuinely good for simple, low-volume flows. If that's all your situation needs, we'll tell you — it's a cheaper answer and there's no shame in it.
Custom integration earns its keep when the logic gets complex, volumes grow, or the connector doesn't support what you need. It also matters when reliability matters: a custom integration comes with proper error handling, retry logic, and monitoring, so a failed sync gets caught instead of quietly dropping records for a month.
The first conversation is about which side of that line you're on.
API integration services across Australia.
Northbase is based on the Sunshine Coast and Melbourne, with clients across Queensland and the rest of the country. We've been operating since 2000 — over 25 years of building and connecting software for Australian businesses.
If you want an integration partner you can get on the phone with in your own timezone, we're that team. You deal directly with the people building the integration, through scoping, build, and support.
Common questions
API integration, answered.
How much do API integration services cost in Australia?
It depends on the systems involved and the complexity of the data flow. A single well-documented integration — say, syncing orders into Xero — is a much smaller job than a multi-system build. Every integration starts with a scoped discovery phase, and we quote a fixed price after scoping — no open-ended hourly billing.
Can you integrate with Xero, MYOB, or HubSpot?
Yes. Accounting integrations with Xero and MYOB are among the most common jobs we do, along with CRMs like HubSpot and Pipedrive, e-commerce platforms like Shopify and WooCommerce, and payment gateways like Stripe. If the platform has an API, we can connect to it.
What if one of our systems doesn't have an API?
There's almost always a path. Many older systems support scheduled imports and exports, database-level access, or file-based exchange, and we build the integration around that. Where a system of yours needs to expose data to others, we can build a custom API in front of it.
Should we use Zapier or a custom integration?
Off-the-shelf connectors like Zapier or Make are genuinely good for simple, low-volume flows, and if that covers your needs we'll tell you. Custom integration makes sense when the logic gets complex, volumes grow, the connector doesn't support what you need, or reliability matters enough that you want proper error handling and monitoring.
Who maintains the integration when an API changes?
We do. APIs get updated, deprecated, and occasionally break — so every integration we build comes with monitoring and a support arrangement. When a provider changes their API, we handle the update. You'll usually never know it happened.
Is our data secure during integration?
Yes. Integrations use each platform's authenticated APIs over encrypted connections, with credentials stored securely and access scoped to only the data the integration needs. We don't take copies of your data beyond what the integration requires to run.
